September 2022

Dear Colleagues,

As I previously shared during University Convocation, the University is embarking on an update to the Campus Master Plan. Charlotte’s Master Plan will align with the goals outlined in our strategic plan – Shaping What’s Next, while also providing an opportunity for the university community to determine needs and guide innovative development of the physical elements of campus. These physical elements include our current and future needs in campus facilities, academic space, research, athletics, transportation, recreation, housing, utilities, infrastructure and the outdoor environment for the next decade.

The University’s update to the Campus Master Plan provides a timely opportunity for the campus community and the greater Charlotte region to work together to envision a physical representation of Shaping What’s Next. We envision this work to commence in October, after the selection of a consultant, and the duration of the project to extend over the next 12-18 months.  In our commitment to make the master planning process inclusive, the Master Plan update will seek engagement from as many faculty, staff and students as possible through the development of committees, focus groups, surveys, etc. to procure your input.

All updates on the Master Plan process can be found on the newly launched website masterplan.charlotte.edu. On the website, you can find additional information on the Master Plan administrative structure, and members of both the Steering Committee and the Working Group.

I am excited to embark on the development of our next master plan as we continue to move the University forward in Shaping What’s Next.

Sincerely,
